Byron Bay Raggamuffin 2008
February 17
UB40, The Wailers, Maxi Priest, Arrested Development and Katchafire will be touring Australia and New Zealand in a music event called Raggamuffin, put together by music promoter Andrew McManus. Each event will be six hours of reggae music, funk, dub, hip hop and soul!

Raggamuffin will tour Australia and New Zealand performing at outdoor and indoor venues through February 2008. It’s reggae King Bob Marley’s birthday in February (February 6 1945 to be exact), so what better month to celebrate!

The Ragga muffin music festival has already received a fantastic response from fans, with promoter Andrew McManus confirming the event will be staged again next year.

UB40, The Wailers, Maxi Priest, Arrested Development and Katchafire commitment to the event extends to their participation in "Raggamuffin Vol 1", a compilation CD featuring hits from all the artists. Tracks include UB40’s "Here I Am (Come and Take Me)", The Wailers’ "Lively Up Yourself", Maxi Priest’s "Close To You" and Arrested Development’s "Mr Wendell" to name a few. This EMI release will be sold at the concerts along with a fantastic range of specially designed Raggamuffin merchandise such as bucket hats, singlets, stubbie holders, hoodies and satchels.

The inaugural Raggamuffin event has taken on a new level of expectation, with the weekend news that after thirty years UB40 lead singer Ali Campbell is to leave the UB40 band to focus on a solo career.
